National Grange Endorses Opt Out of High Stakes Testing
Last spring the Multnomah Grange #71 adopted and forwarded a resolution on high-stakes testing to the Oregon State Grange to be considered for revision/adoption by the Oregon State Grange at the summer convention in Florence. The resolution was adopted as amended and was one of three Oregon Grange resolutions submitted to the national Grange for consideration at their 151st annual convention in Spokane, Washington earlier this month.
It gives me great pleasure to let you know that the national Grange adopted the resolution as amended. View a printable copy of the resolution here.
The potential significance of this can be huge considering that 1/4 of public education funding in the USA goes to funding rural public schools. This resolution should be useful in lobbying efforts as well as public awareness efforts. Raising awareness of the crisis at hand, building relationships/allyships, and strengthening our actions/advocacy is a must at this time!
