Corporations Donate $10 Million to Defeat Measure 97

We knew that our opponents — some of the biggest corporations in the world — would spend big so they could continue to avoid paying their fair share in Oregon. This week, they hit a huge milestone in their fundraising efforts: $10 million in reported contributions.

This $10 million milestone is noteworthy not just for its dollar amount, but because up until now, the opposition has gone out of its way to pretend to be driven by small businesses and Oregonians — just take a look at the coalition listed on its website. The facts show that’s just not the case: The majority of the opposition’s money comes from the large, out-of-state corporations that would pay more taxes under Measure 97.
